Countdown begins!

Where did the summer go? Around here, the last two weeks of August seem to be about finding lunch boxes (please tell me we emptied them last spring!), filling in school forms, and trying to squeeze in one more trip to the beach. I’ll admit – I have mixed feelings about summer freedom coming to an end. But I know September is right around the corner. And September is all blackberry-apple crumble joy!  Why? Because September is…World Kid Lit Month, a month-long celebration of children’s books, authors, illustrators, and translators from around the world.

We’ve been getting ready for it here on the blog with posts coming in from contributors around the world. And having had an early taste, I can tell you it’s going to be scrumptious! On the blog in September, we’ll have daily book reviews and recommendations from our community. There should be enough recommendations not only for the month, but also for the year.

We hope you’ll join us in celebrating by reading and sharing. Tell a friend, a person on the bus, a librarian, a bookseller, the Internet! September is #WorldKidLitMonth

If you’re a parent, a teacher, a librarian, or a bookseller, you might take it one step further and put together a reading list or a display or encourage some language learning. If you’re running a special promotion or reading challenge, email and let us know about it by August 24, and we’ll include it in our August round-up.

If you want to start getting ready now, we have plenty of ideas on how to celebrate. And even more in the days to come.

We’re looking forward to celebrating together!
