September can mean lots of things around the world: the end of summer in the north, the start of spring in the south, and for many, it’s back to school. But one thing we can all celebrate this month:

#WorldKidLitMonth is an annual celebration of world literature for children and young adults that takes place all September long. It’s the perfect time to explore and share children’s and young adult books, authors, and illustrators from other countries besides your own, and books translated into English from other languages.
Coming up on World Kid Lit blog this month, we’ll be sharing daily book reviews giving you plenty of inspiration for your own reading journey. To receive these recommendations direct to your inbox, sign up to the blog now!
Each day our contributors will focus on a particular theme. Please join the conversation on social media and add your own suggestions, using the hashtag #WorldKidLitMonth.
Here’s a flavour of what’s coming up here on the blog:
- Ayo Oyeku conjures up some magic from the shores of West Africa;
- Paula Holmes has some purr-fect World Kid *Cat* Lit for us;
- Amanda L. Andrei shares her personal experiences of Philipino languages;
- Charlotte Graver breaks some taboos; and
- Lori gets *buzzy* with her recommendations.
The World Kid Lit website is packed with ideas and inspiration to help you choose a country and fly there with a book. You can also find recommendations of children’s books from around the world, or ask for recommendations, on Twitter, Instagram, our Facebook page or the World Kid Lit Facebook discussion group.
Will you browse one of our book lists, play World Kid Lit Month BINGO, or share a shelfie of the translated children’s books on your shelves?
However you choose to celebrate, share it on social media with the hashtag #WorldKidLitMonth!
From the whole World Kid Lit Team, we wish you a very happy World Kid Lit Month!
