World Kid Lit is a hub for knowledge sharing and expertise in international children’s literature. We believe reading books from around the world is a powerful way to foster antiracism, empathy and a global outlook on the world.

Our aims as a non-profit organization are:

• To support young people’s awareness of and access to diverse, inclusive, global literature, especially literature in translation, as well as English-language texts and authors from every continent of the world
• To support the education and library sectors to enable greater access for young people to global literature, and to positive experiences of translation and language learning
• To support the English-language publishing landscape to publish more globally inclusive and diverse literature for young people, including commissioning new translations, especially from languages and regions of the world less well represented in translation, and by authors, illustrators and translators from backgrounds traditionally under-represented in publishing

In these ways, we work as a community and in partnership with other organizations to support an antiracist education for young people, fostering empathy, intercultural understanding and global literacy.
