Juan Pablo Villalobos’ ‘The Other Side’ Finalist for Kirkus ‘Young Readers’ Prize

Kirkus today announced the six finalists for the 2019 “Young Readers” prize. Among them was a newly released young adult title by by Juan Pablo Villalobos, translated by Rosalind Harvey: The Other Side: Stories of Central American Teen Refugees Who Dream of Crossing the Border.

For this account of youth migration, Villalobos interviewed teens at various stages of the process.

The Kirkus Prize grants $50,000 in three categories: fiction, nonfiction and young readers.

The Kirkus Prize judges will announce the three winners on Thursday, October 24, 2019.
